![]() ![]() Why are cats more important than 64+ species? Why are cats more important than my animals, who are in a fenced area and on my property? Caring for animal welfare means caring for ALL the animals and the environment, and cats are bad for it. And they didn’t say shoot indiscriminately, again you continue to remove the context for the destruction of the cat, that being it’s actively harassing my animals.Īnd again you’re treating cats like they’re more important than all of the animals they kill and the ecosystems they’re destroying. If they’re released they keep trying to kill my animals. You have to report it if you kill a dog, or accidentally hit one with your car. We have a lot of laws for dogs that we don’t for cats. Again, this makes me highly doubt any organization that cares for animal welfare suggested “shoot indiscriminately” In case there’s a pet cat trapped, this method gives them the opportunity to check if the cat is chipped and return it to their owner. The usual method is to trap, spay and release. I’m serious, I do not believe a humane society told you “shelter’s full, just shoot them” Well the US thing explains a couple of things, but I still find it unbelievable that any humane society would suggest shooting cats in sight as a feral population deterrent or because their shelter are full. They are overpopulating and it’s been awful for everything and everyone. Invasive also means they populate so so quickly. Most the shelters are kill shelters, and they’re full to the brim with cats anyway because the stray cat issue is so so bad here. I never shoot cats on sight, just when they’re nothing my animals/plants The humane society and the police both said to shoot them, the society is full and animal control just wants the things gone. ![]() If your “real solution” is shooting cats on sight, I’m not going to get behind anything you say, ever ![]() You shouldn’t be shooting ferals either, if they’re a problem they should be trapped and relinquished to a humane society Instead of making an emotional bid, let’s get real solutions, because I’ve been educating for ages, and the truth is, no one seems to care. Killing a python in the Everglades is also killing a pet. How am I supposed to tell the difference between a feral and a pet? How am I supposed to tell if the cat has the intent of eating my animals or just “playing”? The solution is to educate people about keeping cats indoors, not shooting their fucking pets I have a friend whose cat got shot by a neighbor after it spent FIVE MINUTES outside because it accidentally got out Shooting free roaming cats means murdering someone’s pet. Any other loose animal causing the destruction cats are are routinely killed upon spotting. People are just squeamish about it because cute. Yes, shooting them is technically the most appropriate solution from a purely conservationist point of view, much like the open season on pythons one Florida. Yes, the reason, which includes slapping seal, is harassing and killing wildlife and disrupting ecosystems. No, shooting them isn’t an appropriate solution. No, the reason isn’t because they will slap seals. This is probably the dumbest take on this post. They are highly destructive to the ecosystem. ![]()
